I Believe: It Doesn’t Matter What They Think

hello everyone 🙂 I have come to realize that with starting school, (high school, for that matter) there will be a lot of statements that I come to change perspective on, or learn throughout the years. A lot of things I will disagree or agree on, so I have decided to start a series that will pop up every now and again, that tells you all about things I have learned.

It will be titled,”I Believe:_____” and I really hope that it will inspire some of you 😉

so without further ado, here is the first chapter of my “I Believe” series!

————

one of the biggest things that I struggle with, is worrying about what other people think of me. I assume that i’m not the only one… because with all the struggles in the world with trying to fit in, be skinny, look like models, become popular, get stellar grades, and fit into size zero jeans, we forget that it is impossible to become exactly like the person next to you.

There’s one thing that was mentioned this past year during my English class’s Harkness discussions. Someone said,

“if everyone’s special, then no one is”

I actually disagree with that statement. You see, I believe that everyone was created with some exact purpose in life. It may or may not be extravagant, but it will always create something out of it. I was talking to my dad a little while ago, and he told me exactly what I told you right now. Although, in your eyes, you may see your life as boring and bland, maybe your purpose is not for right now. Maybe your purpose is to go through several life struggles, teach and raise strong minded intelligent kids, who learn immensely from your experiences, and from there, go to create a life changing business, or run the country, all based off the principles you have taught them.

I really don’t think it should matter so much to people whether or not you apply to the “ideals” that they come up with. Just like you and I, they struggle in some aspect of life, whether they realize it, or not.

I’m not saying at all that i’m perfect. I struggle with worrying about what other people think of me, and whether or not i’m considered “ideal” or not. But I do work on it, and although that worry of fitting in may only be diminished, it’ll always be there.

There’s a quote that I would like to share with you all by Deepak Chopra.

“What other people think about you is not your business. Once you make that business your business, you’ll be offended the rest of your life.”

Life is full of complications and responsibilities, but with the correct outlook, we can always do better and learn from the trials we are given.

It doesn’t matter if people label you and tell you that you are something… But you’re really not. The actions against you only show what they are inside. Not you at all.

It’s hard, because all the struggles that I go through seem like it is impossible to get through it. The reality of it, is that it will always get harder and more difficult as time goes on… But with the new knowledge and strength you have from past trials, it will be so much easier.

You are amazing.

Much Love,

Madi
